Katie's Halloween Party

John, Lindsey & I spent the morning with Katie and Caleb today. It was a nasty rainy morning but watching preschoolers have their Halloween party offset the weather. Katie B was a ladybug and Caleb was a penguin. If I were Catholic I would nominate all preschool teachers for Sainthood!! They must go home every night completely exhausted!

We started with all the kids getting 'assembled' except for one little girl who did not want to wear her costume. The kids then went to a select group of rooms to 'trick or treat'.

Joy's room was included in the trip. We wrapped things up in the library and then returned to the classroom.

Time for treats after the story.


The teacher read the kids a story and then they each handed out the candy they had brought to share. The little girl immediately before Katie had also handed out Reese's peanut butter cups. If you listen closely when Katie is handing out her candy the teacher asks one little boy what he says when Katie handed her candy to him (implying of course 'thank you'). What he actually says is "I already have one of these". That did not phase Katie who was moving as tho she was wearing a suite of armor and could not flex at the waist.

There was another little girl (8 months old) wearing a bumble bee costume. Caleb was fascinated. She reached out to touch him and rolled backwards to the floor. He crawled over to her and they stared deep into each other's eyes. We, of course, were narrating with 'the penguin closes in on the downed bumble bee. This is seldom seen in the wild'. Caleb wisely ignored us - we'll have to wait for his prom night to try again!

After a quick lunch at DQ Katie & Caleb went back to Grandma Wade's and we headed home. A fun way to spend the morning!
