Noah's promotion
Friday evening we went to Noah's scout ceremony where he was awarded several honors. Steph had put together a scrapbook and our place was marked by a twig and decorated can stating Tigers Noah Walters. Noah was very proud of having crafted the centerpiece. The evening started out with a carry-in supper and way too much food!
Noah was part of the color guard and helped put the flag into position.
The mothers were called up front and their scouts 'pinned' them. Seconds after I took this shot my camera batteries died and Jeff's film ran out! Pat dashed to the corner store for batteries and Jeff raced to get the next roll of film in. We were up and running in no time. Obviously that whole 'be prepared' thing hadn't sunk in!

After the awards were handed out you could tell something was in the works. Pretty soon the back door opened and here came a Star Wars contingency! The boys (& everyone else) were thrilled. Seth was away on a scout trip - I'm sure he would have loved this. Watch Noah's face as they walk past (it is better than watching the kiddo next to him picking his nose - didn't realize that until I got everything uploaded!)
After the Star Wars group marched in they mingled with the kids and posed for pictures. Here Noah is intimidating Darth Vader.

Don't know which character this guy is but the costuming was great!
Isn't this a cool idea for a bunch of boys? These actors were so gracious to come to the awards ceremony (& on a snowy evening too). Pat snapped this shot of the Walters with the group.

Valentine's Day with Katie & Caleb
It is Saturday night and everyone needs a bath at least once a week. Unfortunately our tub was being re-caulked so the laundry sink became a hot tub. Katie loved it and soaked for a long time. The whole 'tub deeper than I am tall' thing really bothered Caleb though.
Then came Sunday morning and Valentine's Day!
The big people say warm weather will come again - but I don't believe them anymore. I'm just going to lie here by the heat vent until I grow out of my jammies.
Look Nana - Breakfast!!
Ryan found a very dapper suit for Caleb - the jacket is black velvet. It was a bit interesting keeping the clip-on tie attached but eventually he forgot about it. You can tell he felt pretty suave & debonair!!

KC World of Wheels
This Sunday Pat & I went with Jeff, Steph & kids to the K.C. World of Wheels Car Show. It was a wonderful way to spend yet another snowy cold Sunday afternoon. We all had a great time and I thought I would share some of the beautiful (& maybe not so beautiful) cars with you. Pat, of course, narrated!!

We saw a lot of mini-displays matching the real 'thing'.
If Pat really, really loved me he would buy me this '60 vette - isn't it gorgeous!!

Pat's favorite as a kid was a '40 Ford - this is a great example
This is a '29 Ford with a '32 grill on it. Burnt orange seemed to be a favorite color. We can't argue - our Mazda is the same color.

'34 Ford with fantastic paint job

Friends of ours, Ed & Bev Ostervich, worked for years on this stretch VW limo. Lindsey & John would have gotten this as a ride to the reception if it had been done in time. Fortunately, Keith, stepped in and helped with his Caddy.
Interior of the 'bug' - has a 26" LCD TV & DVD, awesome sound along with a bar set-up. Motor is fully decked out in chrome - they did a great job!
Wonderful chopped '50 Merc - customized years ago but still looking good.
We should all recognize the famous CARS Hudson Hornet (& the three Walters)
Noah was pretty happy about seeing this.
Another one of my favorites - this is an incredible '36 custom Ford.
Same car from the side - it screams class - one of the nicest cars we saw
Very clean '32 duece coupe
Either a '38 or '39 Packard with amazing paint & interior. You don't realize how big the car really is until you are standing next to it.

OK - if I don't get the Aston Martin or the first vette I will settle for this custom '61 vette. This was one of the prettiest cars there.
See - isn't this beautiful!! They even put a mid-50s Chevy steering wheel in it for added class.
Shane - these shots are for you. We thought of your Rockabilly friends.
They had a lot of cars with nice motors but really rough - not as nice as the West Coast cars you shoot.
We thought this would make a great work panel truck for you Shane - could put lots of equipment in the back.
This was just a fun '51 Ford! Used to haul trailers but the owner put a wood lined pick up bed on the back. Powered by a 460 Lincoln engine.
